Conclusions
- Stora Enso was the best company for December. They had an incredible month and set a new benchmark. Check out what they did in December: Stora Enso. Stora Enso is the first non-Italian company to reach the first place since we started our bioplastics ranking in June 2019. Extra Congratulations !!!
- Tipa is a champion (in the making) and probably the best communicator at this point in time.
- Bio-on stays on top of mind but nobody knows what the company will become.
- Dupont is a newcomer in the top 10. However, Dupont has a serious problem due to its link to the PFAS scandal and the PFAS Hollywood movie. 2020 will be a determinant year for Dupont. Will it survive the PFAS crisis or will it be sanctioned by the US congress?
- Sulapac made a great move forward. Most of its visibility is created through their partnerships (Chanel and Stora Enso).
- ECHO Instruments, Kaneka, DSM and Sulzer made a good push forward. Echo Instruments seems to produce the best biodegradation analysers and measurements technology.
- Nodax was still more visible than Mater-Bi in December. It shows the huge potential of PHA.
- The company who lost the most visibility in December compared to November was Carbiolice.

Notes
This ranking is based on website statistics of BioplasticsNews.com. These stats are for the period 1 – 31 December 2019.
DEC means the ranking for December. This is a relative ranking
NOV means ranking for November. This is a relative ranking.
Visibility Ratio (VR) shows how the top companies compare to the first company. The first company gets 100 % per cent, how much do the other companies receive compared to the first. This is an absolute ranking in a percentage scale.
Not all companies are equal in size. Some companies are only active in bioplastics while others are also active in traditional plastics. Not all companies produce the same type of bioplastics (PLA, PHA, Bio-PE, etc). Not all companies have the same marketing budget (multinationals vs startups). Not all companies have the same place in the bioplastic value chain.
We combine company names and brands: some brands are known by their company name, some companies are known by their brand names.
