The toothbrush handle and the packaging are partly made from bioplastic made from the wood waste from the timber processing industry. The toothbrush is biodegradable. The bristles are made from castor oil based nylon. Castor oil comes from the castor bean or castor oil plant (Ricinus communis). The amount of heavy metals in the colouring pigments is very low.

Their Pedigree:
- Biobrush presented its ideas at the Entrepreneur Summit in Berlin in 2015 and won the Proof of Concept.
- Biobrush won the German Packaging Award for Sustainability in 2016 with their compostable packaging film.
- Biobrush won the Best of the Best in Product Design at the Red Dot Award ceremony in 2017.
- Biobrush was laureate at the German Design Award for „Excellent Communications Design/Packaging“ and won a „Green Good Design Award“ in the category „Green Product“ in 2018.
