The same people who spent the last 30 years urging us to delocalize our industries to China are now telling us to stop buying Chinese goods. Suddenly, China is the enemy?
For decades, Western politicians failed to develop any coherent industrial strategy. They encouraged outsourcing, offshoring, and cheap production abroad — and only now, after forty years, they’re waking up to the reality that we’ve handed over our entire supply and value chains to China.
The result? Millions of European jobs lost. Western leaders sacrificed a large part of the middle and working classes to build up China’s own middle class.
So, congratulations to the Chinese government — they actually had an industrial policy. They invested, they planned, and they executed. And if they continue playing their cards right, they’ll soon become the world’s leading superpower.
Western politicians, on the contrary, have failed in their job. Was it corruption, incompetence or both?
Congratulation to China.
