You’ve probably noticed it but there’s been a change in the world of scientific publications.
The free days seem to be over.
One of the most important platform … nature.com … is going for a paywall on almost everything.
Lots of scientific publications on that platform used to be ‘free’ without paywall.
The nature.com website changed its look recently and it feels much more commercial.
That website is owned by the Springer Nature blablabla organisation (part of the Springer conglomerate blablabla holding …. who is probably part of another obscure global trust).
Springer is a bit like Murdoch, it has its fingers in every pie.
There’s a pattern here …. the world seems to be run more and more by trust funds…. and we don’t know who owns and runs these trusts and what they have in mind.
Million dollar question
When the EU commission, parliament or other EU institution give EU grants and funding to scientists and universities … is it acceptable that these scientists and universities publish their studies on a platform owned by trust funds and billionaires behind a paywall?
Personally, I would say no as it’s public money.
But then again, The EU commission doesn’t give a damn of what people think.
Many people believe that the EU commission has become a tool for the trust funds and billionaires to take over the world….. and this my friends is the main reason why EU citizens have a gigantic distrust towards the EU commission.
