German producer Verbio opened a new specialty chemicals plant in Bitterfeld-Wolfen on October 6, following an investment of nearly €100 million. The facility uses rapeseed-derived feedstock to manufacture bio-based chemicals, including 1-decene and 9-DAME, for industrial applications. It has capacity for up to 60,000 tonnes annually and is expected to create approximately 50 jobs. Production will increase as customers qualify the products.
