It is being made by Vanni Gandolfo and Vittorio Moroni, produced by Indigo Film. It will tell the story of the bioplastic unicorn from its foundation to the present day.
After two books, a podcast and a documentary, the story of Bio-on , an Italian bioplastics start-up that capitalized over a billion euros and went bankrupt in 2019 following a speculative attack, will also be told in a docuseries produced by Indigo Film , destined to land on international streaming platforms.
The series is the result of thirteen years of filming and hundreds of hours of unreleased footage collected by Vanni Gandolfo , who signs the direction and, together with Vittorio Moroni , also the writing. Starting from the unreleased material collected in over a decade, during which he followed the whole story, Vanni Gandolfo reports the voices of the protagonists of this story, starting with Marco Astorri with whom Indigo Film has signed an exclusive agreement .
“I started out convinced that I was telling the story of the birth of the start-up that would change the planet, until I was forced to take a cold shower, because someone told me that reality was different . I didn’t stop the camera and I kept filming – explains the director -. Telling reality is a very difficult undertaking , but having the privilege of following a story for such a long time is the dream of every documentary maker”.
For Nicola Giuliano , producer of Indigo Film, the story seems tailor-made to be told by the cinema : “That of a man who tries to realize a great dream that suddenly falls apart. Will a trial establish whether the protagonist is a monster or the victim of a plot? It’s a great mystery that will be told with the language of the documentary , giving voice to all the protagonists and examining all the events”.
