The biocomposite is made from wood and bioplastics. The wood comes from spruces and pines, and the bioplastics is made from sugar cane.
Stora Enso has partnered with Orthex in this project. Orthex is a Finnish company producing household products. The products will be commercialised under the brand GastroMax BIO.
Stora Enso produces the biocomposite in Sweden. Using this biocomposites instead of regular plastics reduces the carbon footprint of the products by 80%.
