Furfural (“FF”) family – Genealogy and promising next generation
Furfural is the chemical precursor for furfuryl alcohol (“FA”), tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol (THFA), furoic acid, furfurylamine, methylfuran and furan. From furan, tetrahydrofuran (THF) is derived, which is the precursor for polytetramethylene ether glycol (PTMEG).
Bioplastics PEF (polyethylene furanoate) is an alternate to PET and bio-PET for soft drink bottles, offering enhanced functionalities.
Biobased PEF (polyethylene furanoate), the new feedstock for soft drink bottles is not only green, but also cheaper to produce than both fossil and drop-in green PET (polyethylene terephthalate). It also has better properties. Continue reading BOTTLES FROM FURFURAL→
