As previously announced, on Monday, March 10 , coinciding with the meeting at the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy regarding the Eni Versalis dispute scheduled for 4:00 p.m., Filctem Cgil has declared an eight-hour national strike for all direct workers employed by the company.
Details of the demonstration organized on the same Monday at the MIMIT headquarters with the CGIL and the Fiom, Filt, Fillea, and Filcams trade unions will be announced in the next few hours .
It should be remembered that the mobilization became necessary following Eni’s confirmation that it would abandon basic chemical production. Filctem CGIL’s general secretary, Marco Falcinelli, has repeatedly reiterated the error Eni is inflicting on Italy, its industrial supply chain, and its competitiveness, and the government’s failure to endorse this disastrous industrial plan, thus making itself complicit in a serious process of deindustrialization. There is still time to put an end to this disaster and save the industry and hundreds of thousands of jobs.
The CGIL (Italian General Confederation of Labor) continues its mobilization to stop the plan to divest its basic chemicals operations presented by Eni Versalis. On the occasion of the meeting convened by MIMIT , the CGIL and the trade unions Filctem CGIL, Fiom CGIL, Fillea CGIL, Filt CGIL, and Filcams CGIL will organize a large demonstration to be held in front of the Ministry.
On the same day, Filctem CGIL has scheduled an eight-hour national strike at all Eni Versalis sites for direct workers. “Eni is causing enormous damage to the country and to the competitiveness of its entire industry. The government must not endorse this disastrous plan and become complicit in a serious act of deindustrialization. There is still time to stop this devastation and save the industry and hundreds of thousands of jobs.” Filctem CGIL Secretary General Marco Falcinelli reiterated the reasons for the strike.
