The two companies, which in December 2018 announced a strategic agreement to develop new materials for food packaging of fresh fruit and vegetables focusing on sustainability and complete biodegradability, illustrated the initiative during FRUITLOGISTICA 2019, the most important fair in the world for the fruit and vegetables which attracts to Berlin over 300 thousand qualified visitors. The largest international distribution companies such as WallMart, Tesco, Coop, Carrefour, Lidl and many others along with fruit and vegetable producers and packaging companies take advantage of this event to design the market’s lines of the future.
The presentation of ZEROPACK organized by Bio-on and Rivoira was one of the opening events of the fair and was followed by over 150 main international operators. The founder and president of Bio-on, Marco Astorri, participated together with the CEO of Rivoira, Marco Rivoira, and Andrea Taglini CEO of EasySnap, one of the most interesting start- ups in the packaging sector that with its own innovations has revolutionized the design of many disposable packaging and simplified its use for the final consumer. During the event, Professor Paola Fabbri of the University of Bologna (Associate Professor of Materials Science and Technology at the Department of Civil, Chemical, Environmental, and Materials Engineering) explained to the audience “the past, the present and the future of plastics and bioplastics” in food packaging.
In Berlin, ZEROPACK launched its own challenge to the entire sector announcing the first three product lines that will be developed together with leading companies in the fruit and vegetable sector by October 2019 and to be presented at the FRUIT ATTRACTION fair in Madrid in October 2019.
