Self-regulation are usually an industry wide initiative as alternative to legislation. The advantages of self regulation compared to legislation are
- SR can be designed and implemented faster than regulation
- SR is business-friendlier than legislations (it’s designed by industry, less red tape, etc)
- SR is sometimes more pragmatic than legislation. SR is designed by the industry itself while legislation is made by law makers who sometimes lack business acumen.
