Italy’s Bio On, now controlled by MAIP, is working with Polytechnic University of Milan to restart industrial PHA production at Castel San Pietro Terme. Currently, only the pilot plant operates, producing small PHB batches. An €8.9 million, three-year research program will support process optimization, technological upgrades, alternative feedstocks and by-product valorization following years of inactivity and equipment deterioration.
