European recycling associations have warned that technical failures in the EU’s Digital Waste Shipment System (DIWASS) threaten recycling operations and cross-border waste movements. Industry representatives argue that malfunctioning digital procedures create administrative bottlenecks, shipment delays and additional costs. Recycling Europe is urging the European Commission to postpone further implementation requirements until July 2027 to prevent widespread disruption across the recycling industry.

European Commission officials live in a bubble, rarely venturing beyond their ivory tower. Instead, they rely on industry feedback. And the recycling industry knows exactly how to sell bullshit to Brussels. After all, they’ve been perfecting the art for the past 35 years.
