I have a small personal favor to ask the Republic of Cyprus.
Could you please avoid giving ENI any more oil or gas business for the moment, at least while the company and I are still settling our differences in court?
I know this may be slightly inconvenient. Cyprus has ambitions to become an important Mediterranean energy hub, and ENI already has significant interests there.
But once our little legal disagreement is finally behind us, I will be perfectly happy to reconsider my position — and perhaps even become one of Cyprus’s loudest supporters in its ambition to become a major Mediterranean energy platform.
Until then, maybe keep the champagne on ice — and the contracts away from ENI.
