The stock has led the FTSE MIB since its opening trading session, rising 1.7% to 15.9 euros. Eni is trading positively. +1.95%They follow in the wake of the recent upgrade by Moody’s, which raised the rating from Baa1 to A3, and UBS and the agreement with the Argentine company YPF in Uruguay.
“Eni’s share price performance in 2025 was one of the best in the European energy sector,” UBS states in a report, which states that the company “presents one of the most attractive growth profiles in the sector, with a production CAGR of 5% through 2028, and the highest-quality investment plans, with an IRR on new investments above 16%.” UBS has in fact upgraded its recommendation for Eni from Buy to Neutral, with a price target of 18 euros from 15.5 euros previously.
Eni also signed an agreement yesterday with Argentina’s state-owned oil company YPF to acquire a 50% stake and operatorship in the OFF-5 exploration block, offshore Uruguay. The agreement will enter into force following approval by the Uruguayan authorities.
