Well, a plastic treaty would have been an empty box.
Plastic is produced so efficiently due to economic and technical reasons that the efficient molecular composition of plastic packaging doesn’t allow it to be salvaged.
However, some lobbyist have created the concept of circular economy and bullshitted the European Commission.
Back to the United Nations… now that the UN talks have collapsed, the UN can re-focus on its original purpose… eradicating hunger and war on the planet… something they’re not really good at… and thats why the plastic treaty was the ideal diversion…
