The purpose of the UN was to solve hunger and to guarantee Peace. They have failed on both topics.

The Plastic Treaty talks are pointless as we do not have a technological solution to the plastic waste crisis.

Mechanical Recycling of PET bottles is the only recycling option that seem to work operationally en economically speaking … but it has 2 problems:

• Bottle-to-bottle recycling: rPET is more toxic than virgin plastic.
• Bottle-to-textile recyling: polyester creates lots of micro and nanoplastics that ends up in the oceans.

Chemical and advanced recycling …. turned out to be a mega farce.

Compostable plastic: a calamity for agricultural soils and farmlands and will multiply the human ingestion of plastic.

Incineration (energy recovery) and landfilling seem o be the only ‘sustainable’ options to get rid of the enormous amount of plastic waste.

One of the option to biodegrade landfilled plastic has been banned by the European Commission.

Novamont, ENI and BASF … and the European Bioplastics can be thanked for this.

So, don’t expect any solutions to come from the Plastic Treaty….it’s just political blabla.
