Parkside was recognised for its compostable laminates, created for Percol and Two Farmers, following success in the 2019 Starpack Awards.
The two innovative designs have been commended for making significant inroads into the development of compostable packaging after becoming the world’s first compostable coffee and crisp packs, respectively.
Global Sales Director at Parkside, Paula Birch, said:
“Collaborating with Percol and Two Farmers was extremely exciting, as it gave us the opportunity to take our innovative compostable laminates to the world’s stage. Compostable packaging is currently one of the fastest growing areas in the industry and this latest accolade, alongside several others, proves it is extremely well received not just by consumers, but industry experts as well.”
The WorldStar Competition, organised by the World Packaging Organisation (WPO), is the premier international award in the packaging calendar.
Accolades are presented to packs that have received honours in a recognised national competition. Entrants are judged relative to their category peers, with particular focus on innovation and quality of execution.
Paula continued:
“The prestigious WorldStar Awards programme is highly regarded across the sector, so this is an extremely proud moment for our team at Parkside. It is gratifying to have our hard work rewarded and is a wonderful way to finish off a highly successful 2019.”
The company’s Park2Nature range of compostable packaging is safe to use for food products and is designed to break down within 26 weeks in a home composting environment, with full accreditation by TUV (formerly Vincotte).
The packaging is also tested for eco-toxicity and various other criteria against EN 13432.
