Thailand’s PTT Global Chemical and SCG Chemicals plan to combine their olefins and polyolefins operations in a joint venture, challenging intense competition from China. The proposed group would have 7.1 million tonnes of annual olefins capacity and rank among the world’s ten largest polyolefins producers. Ownership would be split 56%–44%, with completion targeted for late 2027, subject to regulatory approvals.
