Taiwanese authorities have dismantled an illegal plastic waste disposal network in Miaoli County, uncovering illicit profits exceeding NT$70 million (US$2.2 million). Three companies allegedly collected industrial plastic waste, falsely claimed recycling operations and accumulated massive waste stockpiles without proper permits. Prosecutors indicted six individuals and three companies. Suspects face potential prison sentences of up to seven years.
