Aduro Clean Technologies has been invited to present its Hydrochemolytic technology at PepsiCo’s Sustainability Innovation Hub. The process aims to turn difficult, low-value plastic waste into chemical feedstocks and fuels using relatively low temperatures. Aduro is one of several companies pitching new recycling technologies, as major brands search for ways to deal with packaging that cannot easily be mechanically recycled.
Personal Remark
Chemical recycling is starting to look less like industrial policy and more like a takeaway menu. PepsiCo can browse the options, pick the technology it likes and hope dinner arrives eventually. The problem is that nobody really knows which processes will work at scale, how many plants will actually be built, where they will operate, or what Brussels will ultimately accept as “recycling.” At this point, it is less a circular economy than a recycling Luna Park.
