Context
Sigfrido Ranucci, an Italian investigative journalist, exposed the Bio-on conspiracy on national television.
Bio-on, once listed on the Italian stock exchange, was targeted by a U.S.-based investment fund that took a short-selling position and released a false report accusing the company of fraud. The stock collapsed, leading Italian authorities to place Bio-on under administration and put its founder and CEO, Marco Astorri, under house arrest.
Eventually, Bio-on was sold to a new owner, while Astorri lost both his company and his reputation.
According to the audit firms that reviewed Bio-on’s accounts, there was nothing wrong with the company—it was a coordinated conspiracy.
DISCLAIMER: The following information is sensitive. According to this Italian investigation journalist, there appears to be a link between the US-based investment fund (managed by an Italian) and ENI/Novamont. The story goes something like this: one of Novamont’s board members reportedly served as an advisor to the US investment fund who reported and short-sold on Bio-on.
Bioplastics News
In the past few weeks, Bioplastics News faced two hacking attempts, both targeting articles related to the ENI/Novamont cartel—an interesting coincidence. The incidents were reported to the police.

Marco Astorri X Post (Founder & Ex CEO Bio-on)
SIGFRIDO RANUCCI REPORT Rai Tre. Esprimo tutta…

Translation of Marco Astorri’s X Post
SIGFRIDO RANUCCI REPORT Rai Tre. Last night, an explosive device was detonated under Sigfrido Ranucci’s car. He could have died. His daughter, who passed by there twenty minutes earlier, could have died. This is what happens when journalism becomes dangerous for someone. I express all my solidarity and support to Sigfrido Ranucci and his family. There are no words to condemn with sufficient force such a vile and intimidating act. Ranucci has been one of the few truly free and independent voices in public television for years. Report is the most important investigative program on Rai, perhaps the only one with the courage to go all the way, to dig where others stop, to ask the tough questions. On December 8th, Report dedicated an episode to the Bio-on case. Journalist Danilo Procaccianti and host Sigfrido Ranucci were not afraid to tell that story, my story, without deference, without holding back. For the first time on television, in a free and transparent way. They spared me nothing, and they were right to do so. Because this is journalism: seeking the truth, not settling for official versions, not being intimidated by anyone. In recent weeks, there has been talk of a possible departure of Ranucci from Rai. I hope with all my heart that public broadcasting knows how to hold on to such a precious asset. Report cannot be dismantled, devalued, or forced to move elsewhere. That would be a defeat for all of us. Those who tried to intimidate Ranucci with an explosive device today chose the wrong target, because those who do real journalism do not stop in the face of threats. And we citizens cannot allow this to happen. Defending Ranucci and Report means defending the right of all of us to know, to understand, to not be deceived. Democracy is defended this way: by standing on the side of those who tell the truth, always. Even when that truth directly concerns us. http://astorri.eu
