The science is clear, the facts irrefutable. We see the results of climate change here at home and around the world.
We cannot wait. We will not wait.
We are a coalition of Northwest stakeholders. We are determined to protect and defend our region’s natural beauty and assets, our livelihoods, and economic vitality for future generations and the most vulnerable among us.
Therefore, we the undersigned, declare we are joining forces to mitigate climate change, engage youth, and strive for environmental justice.
Together, we are The Wave.
While we acknowledge the important work each member is already doing independently, we know that together we will realize far greater impact.
And we must.
We will amplify, intensify, and accelerate our collective efforts on behalf of the health of our region and our planet. We commit to develop and nurture an environmentally thriving region and to inspire our millions of residents and visitors alike to join our movement by taking climate action now.
We pledge to advance the following stated goals of The Wave:
- 100% clean energy — make the Northwest the first region in the nation to be powered by 100% clean energy.
- Clean, equitable transportation — promote safe, affordable, and accessible clean transportation for everyone in the Northwest.
- Zero waste — honor the entire life cycle of materials to minimize environmental impacts and conserve natural resources
Healthy, sustainable food — transition to sourcing and producing food in the Northwest that is healthier for people and the planet. - Clean air and water — ensure the Northwest has clean air and water for all species and all generations.
