Biodegradable Straws Now Available at County Stores

Aroostook county, Maine - A local grocery store chain is the latest to join the effort to reduce the amount of plastic and styrofoam that ends up in landfills.

Changes in laws on these products and requests from customers who want environmentally friendly alternatives for commonly used goods led the owner of Star City IGA, Mars Hill IGA, and Hillside IGA to the decision to carry biodegradable straws. He found the straws, thanks to a trip to a trade show.
