Two Companies Develop Bioplastics Mats

Purus International Inc. (California) and Melbourne-based Secos Group Ltd. in started working together in 2016.

Purus provides industrial mats for clean rooms, hospitals and other industrial uses and Secos (Cardia BioHybrid) provide bioplastic resin. The mats remove and contain dirt and dust from foot traffic and equipment wheels.

Traditional clean mats are manufactured from 100 percent LDPE while the new mats contain some virgin low density polyethylene,.

The mats are the first contamination-control product containing bioplastics. The BioHybrid mats will save 135 metric tons of CO2 emissions.
