John Deere Uses Bioplastics

John Deere and International Harvester have replaced metal cosmetic and functional components with bioplastics.

The benefits of 1) reduced weight, cost and sheer complexity of the machines, and hence 2) reduced secondary farm operations.

They meet or exceed the usual stipulated requirement for a nonmetallic stand-in.

Bioplastics are turning out to be as versatile during production and performance as their metallic forebears — and, by the way, as handsome and dashing.
