Dear Readers,
As you may have noticed, the website layout changed overnight. My apologies for the inconvenience. The truth is, I replaced the engine parts while the car was still driving. In technical terms: there was no staging site — all changes were made directly on the production site… for those who speak that language.
The reason for the update is simple. After so many years using the same layout, the connection between the engine and the bodywork was starting to loosen. It was time for a refresh.
I opted for a more economical setup. Running a website costs money, and as an independent blogger in Europe… well, you don’t exactly receive funding — in the contrary.
Being independent allows me to choose the editorial line freely. And if I’m honest, I’ve always had a soft spot for humor, satire, and a bit of sarcasm — so from now on, the editorial tone will mostly reflect that.
Humor is sometimes necessary in dramatic situations.
Bioplastics are presented as a solution, but they are a fake solution — and potentially a dangerous one for both human health and soil ecosystems.
In particular, compostable and soil-biodegradable plastics may be among the worst ideas the plastics industry has come up with. A growing number of studies are raising serious concerns about the toxicity and environmental impact of so-called compostable and biodegradable plastics.
There is a real risk that compostable plastics — especially those designed to biodegrade in soil — could eventually become a public health issue comparable to past industrial mistakes such as asbestos or tobacco.
Unfortunately, the European Commission and the European Parliament once again appear to be prioritizing commercial interests over the long-term protection of public health.
Frankly, common sense should be enough to recognize that plowing plastic into the soil is not a sound idea from a public health perspective.
For that reason, you will understand that I will not participate in promoting this narrative.
