Rishi Sunak says approving new licences for oil and gas drilling ‘entirely consistent’ with net zero plan
Speaking to broadcasters on a visit to Aberdeenshire, the prime minister said approving new licences for drilling for oil and gas in the North Sea is “entirely consistent with our plan to get to net zero”.
Rishi Sunak said domestic oil and gas saves “two, three, four times the amount of carbon emissions” than “shipping it from halfway around the world”.
Personal Remarks
Everything fits into the Net Zero strategy, as long as it generates profits.
But then again, getting rid of oil and gas may be wishful thinking as many people do not understand the implications of oil and gas in our daily lives. We can’t live without them but we understand that the use of those resources have huge implications on our environment.
I always say … we need to make a difference between oil and gas as a resource … the oil and gas corporations … and the oil and gas financial instruments (stock exchange).
I think the problem is greed not necessarily the natural resource. Unfortunately, our society and probably even our politicians are run by greed.
And greed … probably finds its root in our ego …. and the million dollar question is …. to what extend can we control our ego. You answer first 🙂
