TSE Awarded for PUR Spray Layup Resin

TSE Industries based in Clearwater Florida has been awarded the JEC Americas 2014 Innovation Award for its VOC and Bisphenol A-free bio-based polyurethane spray layup reinforcing resin.

This is the second year in a row that TSE has received the coveted award. TSE provides custom molded rubber parts and extrusion, custom plastic fabrication, MIllathane® millable polyurethane rubber, Thanecure® reactive additives, contract manufacturing of specialty chemicals & PUR’s, TSE-EcoWind® and TSE-EcoSpray® polyurethane composite resins.

TSE-EcoSpray® Bio 550C is a bio-based, polyurethane spray layup resin for reinforcement of baths and hot tub spas. Current regulations in the U.S. generally allow 20 PPM for styrene emissions. TSE-EcoSpray Bio resin is free of solvents and styrene, with no Volatile Organic Components( VOC) or Bisphenol A (BPA) . It can be applied in ordinary fiberglass reinforced panel shop environments without foaming, providing an ‘environmentally friendly’ solution without sacrificing flexibility, adhesion, tensile strength or Tg. No climate control is needed. It’s an environmentally preferable product, without the higher cost traditionally associated with such bio-based products.

“For two years in a row, our Composites Team has hit it out of the park,” beamed Rick Klingel, TSE’s President. “The continued global recognition of our innovative polyurethane resin products underscores their unique properties and environmental friendliness. We’re all very proud and honored to receive the JEC Americas Award once again.” TSE-EcoSpray® Bio-based polyurethane resin is made from renewable natural oils, a key component of its sustainable design. It’s sage green in color as a reminder of its environmental compatibility. The product will be certifiable under the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture’s Bio-Based Product Certification Program.

Created in 1998, the JEC Innovation Awards Program is a worldwide competition that identifies, promotes, and rewards the most innovative composite solutions worldwide that create more value for end users. The selection criteria for the JEC Innovation Awards are technical excellence, market potential and originality.
